Linking with Kenya

We interviewed Mr Thorne about the link with a Kenyan school: Njoro Day Secondary School. Tiverton High School have had teachers visit from Njoro Day Secondary School and we are planning to send some of our students to Kenya. In the interview we asked Mr Thorne what the best parts of his trip to Kenya were. He said the best bit were when he went to Kenya where Mr Nduirtu – a Kenyan teacher from Tiverton High School – used to live. Mzungu was the word they used to name the first white person they had ever seen in their village.

The worldwide phenomenon of ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1’ has been released this week and it is amazing and is ‘film of our times’ and also has made £12.65 million. UK  Cinema release on 20th November 2014, and the UK DVD release date was the 16th of March 2015. Splitting the final book to this brilliant trilogy has engaged viewers by revealing the final outcome into two parts.

On Wednesday the 25th of February, Tiverton High School (Devon) hosted ‘I’m a teacher…get me out of here!’. The school’s charity program (Interact) set the event up.

World Book Day

World Book Day

Last Thursday the 5th of March was world book day which is an event that takes place all around the world.

Staff at Tiverton High School dressed up as their favourite book characters and the students were involved in competitions like designing a cover for a book. At least one teacher from every subject was involved, with the whole English department being Dalmatians. However the prize for the best costume went to Mrs Evans who dressed up as the Queen of Hearts.
