This Week's Football Match Reports

On Wednesday afternoon, T.H.S year 7 boys’ football team played their semi- final against Paignton academy school. Paignton school got the first two goals but T.H.S were still adapting to the pitch.

Luckily Jay scored their first goal and by half-time the score was 3-1 - it was time for a team meeting to discuss their tactical ideas. A few minutes after half-time, the score was 3-3. Twenty minutes later and the attack from T.H.S has paid off - the score was now 7-5! T.H.S won the game and made it through to the final!

Year 9's Match Report

On Tuesday the 17th of March, Tiverton High School’s Year 9s took on Colyton High School in an enthralling game of football. Tiverton were looking for their first win of the season after a disappointing loss to Ivybridge a few months ago. They Tivvy boys were looking forward to the game and were expecting a tough one.

The game started quite rapidly with Colyton pressing on the Tiverton back line, creating many chances, with one bouncing off the post in the early stages of the first half. Tiverton defended well though and they flew towards the opposing goal with their pacey forwards. The first goal went to Tiverton as Tyler played a great ball to Ryan on the wing, who took on his marker, before putting in a great cross for Lloyd who fired home with a fantastic volley.

Tivvy started to find their rhythm and they put three more away with ease, with great finishes from Lloyd, Callum and Joe.  Half Time arrived with Tiverton 4-0 up, after a good half of football from both sides.

The start of the second half was signalled by the referee blowing his whistle and Colyton went straight at Tivvy from the off. They created a few chances with James having to make a couple of excellent saves. Tivvy soon piled on some pressure, when the team added two more. A great solo goal from Lloyd completed his hat-trick after a great performance from the striker. Colyton attempted to steal a consolation goal or two but the partnership of Luke and Callum and the back proved too strong.

The game ended with Tiverton winning 6-0 after a great performance from the team. Hopefully they can take it into Thursday’s and Friday’s games against Cullompton and Sidmouth.
