Next year’s May Day bank holiday has been changed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of VE (Victory in Europe) Day.

It has been moved by four days, from Monday 4th to Friday 8th May 2020 and will will form part of a three-day weekend of commemorative events.
The change affects the whole of the UK. If you have holidays planned, you may want to check those dates.

VE Day marks the day towards the end of World War II when fighting against Nazi Germany came to an end in Europe. A change such as this has only happened once before, in 1995, to tie in with the 50th anniversary celebrations for VE Day.
