Celebration Evening

Last night we welcomed back students who left THS in the summer 2016 to celebrate their achievements.  Proud parents/carers sat in the audience to join in this experience and it was lovely to see so many ex students back in the building.

All students received recognition for their successes whilst with us.  In addition to this. our Head’s of House spoke passionately about the students in their houses and had the difficult task of identifying 2 ‘student of the house’.

During the course of the evening, specialist awards went to individual students in recognition to their exceptional achievements in various aspects of school life.  There were a number of awards but:

  • Catherine Roughton, Rotary president was delighted to award Martha Dinsdale the ‘Academic Excellence Award’ on behalf of the Rotary club.
  • Our Chair of Governors, Jason Cox, gave the Mary Gaynor Awards; and
  • Ali Lucas had the honour of awarding Taylor Ware with ‘Contribution to school life’ on behalf of the full governing body.

One special visitor was Mr Lovett, who returned to take part in the evening and I know that everyone was delighted to see him.

Special thanks must go to Mr Barlow and the THS admin team who pulled such a successful event together.

And so to the end of the chapter in this book for these students.  I encouraged them to aspire to be successful in what ever they chose to do and to embrace every opportunity afforded to them.  Of course we wish them well in the future. THS is a better place because they were part of it.
