Football roundup

Despite a Harry C wonder goal unfortunately the Yr 7 football team lost in the first round of the Devon Cup today 5-1 to Torquay Boys Grammar School. With the game evenly tied at the half 1-1 it could have gone either way but TBGS took their chances well forcing THS to go for it in the last ten minutes thus resulting in a scoreline which does not reflect the game nor the effort levels shown by the boys pictured. Well done to all involved.

A superb display from the year 8s in Holsworthy as they overcame there first round opponents 8-2. The tactic was to press and pin them back in there own half and show some composure when the ball does come long towards our back three.

Blake B opened the scoring with a great turn and clinical finish into the top corner from the edge of the box, and then followed it up with another from a clever pull back from Archie.

Archie then got himself on the score sheet with the first of a first half hat trick, and a goal from a smart counter from Ollie W made it 6-0 to the visitors at half time.

Frustratingly for our players we were only able to play a 10 minute second half due to Holsworthy players having to get school buses.

Archie made it 7 early in the second half with THS intent on making the most of the time we did half left. Carly (who put in a top performance) on her debut in goal for the boys was completely caught out by the sun as the ball rolled into our net from a free kick to make the score 7-1. Some great interchange between Charlie and Ollie led to Ollie burying our 8th late on. A good counter from the home side led to a goal from what looked a great save as the ball agonisingly hit the post and crept over the line.

Including Louis B, Jake W, Zack A, Archie A, Harry C, Igor W, Logan H, Mckenzie W, Oakley B, Hudson W, George C
