Our year 8s had a fantastic win yesterday against a strong Exmouth team. Having played and lost to the same team in an earlier cup fixture the boys seemed to have fire in their belly and were determined to put right the earlier fixture.
The first half was very much an even game with both teams battling well and not really creating many chances. However a great bit of play from THS allowed Archie A through on goal who slotted calmly to put THS 1-0 up at the break.
A couple of changes at half time brought Callum H into midfield who was a brilliant addition being able to break up Exmouth’s attacks and start attacks for THS. THS created some very good chances to extend our lead through Hudson W who was unable to convert.
As the time went on THS unsurprisingly came under a lot of pressure but all four defenders showed grit and determination to keep their clean sheet. Korbin M showed some great handling, stopping some shots on target late on. Although THS were under pressure when the ball was cleared the attacking players were able to cause problems for Exmouth. The team stuck at their jobs and were able to keep the score at 1-0 and progress into the next round of the cup.
