Students at Tiverton High School have embraced to the meaning of Christmas with an act of kindness befitting Tiverton & District Hospital.
Students Oscar and Maisie came up with the idea of donating hampers to several of the care teams at the hospital. They approached Head teacher Sammy Crook, who loved the idea and they worked as a team with other students and staff make it happen. They used funds raised from a Christmas Jumper day to create five festive filled hampers and delivered them to the hospital with help from Mrs Slevin in her Partnership Development role.
The staff were delighted with their hampers to share with staff and patients, which were delivered to 5 departments – Urgent Care, Xray, Blackdown Ward, Twyford Ward and Reception, the latter being just delighted as they said they always get forgotten!
The staff commented that the students were a credit to the school and passed on their thanks to the school staff who helped organise the idea. The year 9 students involved included Maisie S, Maddie L, Oscar I-D, Shellby M-P and Stacey N.
