THS students clock up nearly 1000 hours of volunteering this year

The school has just been awarded a certificate from the Duke of Edinburgh Award for completing just under 1000 hours of volunteering this year, 100 hours more than was completed last year.

Many students in year 9 choose to complete their Bronze DofE with some year 10 students completing their Silver. The scheme which has been running since 1956 has always been popular with Tiverton High School Students. The scheme is run by staff and includes volunteering, learning a new skill and an expedition.

This morning year 8 heard all about how they can be involved next year. Mr Wright-Stainton and Miles a year 9 students who has been completing his Bronze award this year explained the scheme and it’s benefits.
