More National Cup Football success for THS

Last night saw two more national cup fixtures against Uffculme and both were excellent encounters displaying the best of school sport – engaging, inclusive and competitive throughout. The U13 girls including several year 7 players narrowly lost 4-3 despite an outstanding performance and hat trick from Lily R. The girls looked out of the game at 4-1 but never gave up and ensured a nail biting finish which could have gone either way.

The U14 boys picked themselves up after going 1-0 down; an unlucky error gave Uffculme a chance lead.
THS kept being positive, trying to get the ball forward with Josh L and Healy playing balls into the box. Callum H came out of goal to help out in the midfield, as Uffculme put THS under pressure. Callum equalised with a long range free kick. End to end stuff followed, both teams played a thrilling final 10 mins, game finishing 2-2. Herbie B was strong in defence, denying further opportunities against THS, and led the team into penalties. THS go through to the second round after winning 4-3 on penalties!

Thanks to Dan Thorne for assisting me with this fixture, the boys team he led acknowledged his tactical masterclass with some rousing chants on the way home.
