During National Careers Week Jazmine Cowlin, former THS student, returned to school to give two presentations about women and careers in STEM subjects. Jazmine, who attended THS from 20015-2021 is currently studying at Bangor University and in her final year of a Batchelors degree. She is staying on at Bangor to complete a Masters in Physical Oceanography in September.
Jazmine spoke to girls in year 10 about University life, the course she is studying and the different avenues there are to get into a STEM related career. Students also had the opportunity to discuss and think about their own careers and dreams.
Jazmine highlighted some of the industries that students may not have thought of as being part of STEM including cosmetic design, AI engineering and animal welfare as well as providing examples of women who have made a great impact on science throughout the course of history.
We’d like to thank Jazmine for her time and knowledge and encourage any other former students to get in touch. There are many ways to be involved in our Alumni programme including coming back into school to work with current students.
