A group of our More Able and Talented (MAT) Year 7 students enjoyed their tutor launch of the Scholars Programme today. Dr Hugh Browne made his first visit to THS, sharing his personal story about his journey through education and into the world of biochemistry and genetics.
This year, students will be studying ‘Biochemistry: How Can Chemists Save the World?’ The students were fantastic and are very excited about starting their tutorials next week.
THS students participate in this programme each year. Students experience university style teaching delivered by a PhD researcher with the aim of developing knowledge and skills and confidence to secure a place at a competitive University. Following the tutorials the students complete an assignment that is marked and moderated using University grades. A graduation ceremony takes place at a partner University for all students who successfully complete the assignment. In the past we have visited Exeter University and Bath University for our ceremonies.
