Every year, at this time members of the Ambassador Team are invited to deliver after dinner talks hosted by our friends at the Exe Valley Rotary Club which holds its meetings at The Hartnoll Hotel, Bolham. Head Girl, Phoebe B is now a seasoned professional at these events, and, on this occasion, she was supported by Tilly S. Mr Nderitu and Mr Sowden, who accompanied the pair, were particularly grateful to Tilly for stepping into the breach at short notice and delivering a notable speech. Both girls were asked to discuss how their experiences at THS had shaped their aspirations for the future. The Exe Valley Rotarians were impressed with their confidence and mature engagement in conversation, leaving their audience in no doubt that THS year 11 students are well-equipped to fully engage with the next exciting phase in their careers.
On Monday night the Head Girl, Phoebe, and the Head Boy, Noah made their final appearance at the meeting of Tiverton Town Council. The THS Ambassador Teams have been representing the school at meetings every two months for over 14 years. In recent years the team have been working in partnership with their counterparts at Blundell’s School to deliver a joint report to the council meeting followed by a question-and-answer session. Last Friday Phoebe and Noah met up with Daisy and Elsie at Blundell’s to put together their report. Prior to their part in the proceedings, there was a democratic period when members of the public were invited to speak on various topics of interest. One of these was the “Septennial Perambulation of the Town Leat” which, if it is to take place this year, will need more support from the community. The CEO of Petroc then gave a talk about the curriculum offer at Petroc.
The four students gave a great team presentation followed by more questions and answers and thanked the Mayor and Councilors for their support over the last year. The Mayor responded by wishing them all success in their future careers and saying that the Town Council looked forward to meeting their successors in due course.
