Live music for 600 Tiverton students

All of our year 7 students and around 400 students from local primary schools enjoyed an energetic and entertaining live music event this week. For some young people this was the very first time they had been to a concert! The live music certainly got them all up and moving straight away.

Students joined together for an uplifting ‘Big Sing’, were introduced to Jazz music by DYJO – Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra and had a good foot stomp to some ska music by Ashley from InFocus Charity.

Well done to our own THS students who performed to the large audience and our year 7 choir members who accompanied the ‘Big Sing’.

A huge thanks to Devon Music Education Hub for their organisation of the Hub Sounds event and to The Sound of the Streets for opening the performances and getting the students really engaged and involved. What a brilliant day, we hope that this will encourage more students to take up an instrument. If your young person is interested in lessons or joining one of our extra curricular clubs then please encourage them to speak to a member of the music department.
