Students from several of our feeder primary schools attended the second of a series of Enhanced Transition mornings. Organised by our SEND team these mornings give students, who will attend Tiverton High School in September, the opportunity to get to know the school a little better.
Understanding the school, meeting staff and meeting students from other primary schools helps students feel less anxious about starting at ‘The Big School’ and more settled when they do start.
Today the visiting students met Mrs Eaves (Assistant SENCO) and Mrs Thrupp who welcomed the students and took them on a tour of the school. During the tour the students played a game of location bingo which helps them identify key rooms and buildings. After the tour they gathered in the refectory to complete ‘Getting to know you’ sheets. One Bolham primary school student commented ‘it has helped me realise that I am not going to get lost…..well not as much maybe!’
We look forward to welcoming more students at the other Enhanced Transition mornings.
