The Year 8/9 girls took on the challenge of playing in the development league today against a variety of schools at Chulmleigh College. A league which promotes enjoyment and participation in girls’ rugby.
The team had a mix of experience and ability levels, but they did not let this stop them. We started of strong against Kingsley and South Molton who combined to make a team. We won 20-15 against them. Tries scored by Roxy, Emma, and Macey X2. We had some amazing runs and break through from Roxy, Keeley, Evie H, Emmeline, and Macey P. Macey P embraced the role as captain and made sure everyone was in check and coached them through the game.
The girls bought so much energy as the afternoon went on and we gained more confidence. I am so impressed with the teamwork, confidence, and commitment of all the girls who played today. Some excellent phases of play from our front row also (Beatrice and Destiny).
We then played against Ilfracombe and Chulmleigh where we lost but was very close with 10-20 and 15-20. Tries scored by Evie, Freya, and Macey.
Some girls played for the first time today and were very nervous but overcame it very quickly once they started to play and couldn’t believe how much they enjoyed it.
