Health and Social Care Curriculum Intent Statement
Health & Social Care is a unique and challenging qualification that allows students to develop their understanding of the most vital job sectors in our society.
Health and Social Care is a unique and challenging qualification that allows students to develop their understanding of human development and gain insight into the most vital job sectors in our society. Students will gain a deeper understanding of who makes up the most vulnerable groups in society and what is needed to care for them. Students will develop an understanding of the different care values within Health and Social care which will prepare them for future careers in health or social care environments.
In addition to this, students will learn life-long skills which are highly transferable such as the ability to communicate effectively with others. In addition to this through the coursework that they will produce students will learn how to independently research different topics and critically think about the information they uncover.
Students will learn lifelong skills such as communication, independent research, critical thinking and assignment writing. They will develop an understanding of the most vulnerable people in society.
There are opportunities for practising and embedding the skills learnt in lessons such as presenting creative and therapeutic activities to groups.
Over the duration of the course students can practice and embed the skills learnt in lesson in many ways. Students will have practice interviewing others about their life experiences then producing recommendations for support for those people. They will also design and deliver creative and therapeutic activities for people in social care settings.
The health & Social Care curriculum aims to support students into further education and equip them with the knowledge and understanding to go forward with kindness and compassion for others in all walks of life.
