Year 7 football and netball

On Wednesday the Year 7 Boys Football and Girls Netball headed to Okehampton for the annual co-op tournament, a great chance to meet with schools from all over Devon and get into the competitive spirit.

Netball

The girls started slow but after a few games found their feet and their positions. After only having two training sessions they did the school proud and were definitely the best dressed in their snazzy new dresses. During the final few games the girls looked like a completely different team having grown, learnt and gelled so much. Well done girls.Catherine was the goal scorer and cemented our first win of the year. Rebecca captained well and led the team with confidence. Team- Rebecca, Yara, Catherine, Sienna, Skai, Ruby.

Football

The boys started against a strong Okehampton team. Both teams were very even until Joe stormed through to score the only goal of the game to get Tiverton off to a winning start. A hat-trick from Joe and a screamer from Sammy saw us win our second game 5-0 against Dawlish. Two more wins followed, resulting in the boys reaching the semi finals and a tough game against Tavistock. With nothing to choose between the teams and a string of excellent saves from Taylor, extra time was needed. Despite the boys desire and commitment, it ended 2-1 to Tavistock. After a moment of disappointment, the boys were able to regain focus to win the 3rd place playoff game against Holsworthy 2-1. It was a fantastic achievement and a pleasure to watch the boys play with such sportsmanship and enthusiasm. The team: Taylor Stansfield (c), Joe Hill, Sammy Avery, Oliver Welsh, Roarie Heard, Corey Dowell, Hamish Hutchison.
