Convincing 9-0 win for the U15 girls

The U15 girls football team made their return to action on Monday this week with a comprehensive 9-0 win against The Maynard School.

This was a great start for them, especially with a bit of a reshuffled squad due to some notable absentees. A big well done and thank you to three year 8s, Esmee B, Olivia W and Kayra P for stepping up and helping the squad, all performing excellently and not looking one bit out of place.

The girls understandably took a few minutes to get going, but once they did, it was as if they had never been away. A rocket from outside the box into the top corner were followed by goals from India, Carly, Freya x 2 and Olivia saw us go into the break with a resounding 5-0 lead.

We made the decision to give a couple of our more established players a rest at half time, to give those fringe players all a chance to stake a claim for a spot in the squad for next week’s friendly against local school Cullompton Community College.

The girls continued with their aggressive high press and scored a further four in the second half, to give us a 9-0 win. Another from the ever-impressive Olivia, and unfortunate own goal from the home team, and two more from Freya as she came back on in the final stages.

A great result for the girls as they start what is a busy looking schedule for them as we move through the rest of the school year.

Opposition’s player went to Freya H for her clinical display up front for us.

Player’s player went to India W who was excellent at the back on her debut for the U15 debut. And coach’s player was combined between Esmee, and Olivia, both dominant in the game, whilst playing against girls two years older than them.

Well done to the following students Maddie R, Jess R, Esmee B, India W, Kayra P, Isla B, Carly K, Olivia W, Niamh P, Freya H, Lacey S, Ava L, Tayla H, Chloe H
