Kayak for Kenya

Two year 8 students Kaleb and Max successfully kayaked the length of the Grand Western Canal, all 11.5 miles of it. The boys have been diligently training throughout winter in all weather. The aches and pains received during training were put aside in the knowledge that they were raising money for their Kenya experience.

The boys collected sponsorship for their efforts with Kaleb raising £730 and Max £960. What a fantastic achievement and experience for them and their families.

On Saturday 30th March they took to the canal to complete their challenge. The boys said ‘The big day was lovely and sunny and we kayaked for a ‘whopping’ 4 and a half hours. Lots of friends and family joined us on the day for support’.

The kayak went well despite meeting one very angry swan at the end! Once finished Kaleb said ‘this is such a big and fun achievement’ whilst Max added ‘always remember to stay away from swan nests’!
