Football Round Up including two victories in Local Derby against Blundell’s School

A fantastic week of football from THS this week. Some really strong games including our very first football matches against Blundell’s School. Read our match reports below:

Monday –  year 9 County Cup vs West Exe.

Storm Isha was in full flow for this fixture on Monday making for some challenging playing conditions for both sides. It was West Exe who managed to assert their dominance on the game in the first half and were deserved 1-0 winners going into half time with keeper Charlie G and his back four being kept busy throughout. With the wind behind us in the second half we were hopeful to turn the tide but changes were needed as West Exe continued to show their quality in possession. Louis B went up top and immediately created some good chances for the team. Unfortunately we couldn’t turn chances into goals and West Exe took advantage of our change in shape to eventually run out 4-0 winners. Credit to our players who never stopped trying for each other. Players player went to Olly J.

Wednesday – year 10 & year 11 Friendly Fixtures vs Blundell’s School

In what was a great afternoon of football for all involved, both the above mentioned teams made the short trip across town for the first game of football between the two schools in quite some time. The yr 10 game was a great contest for the neutral; competitive, full of skill and played in the right manner.

Captain Archie Morgan was brilliant as always leading by example and inspiring his team mates, however players player went to Keelan M who was a rock at the back winning his headers and putting his body on the line. Final score was 3-1 to THS.

The yr 11 fixture was slightly more one sided with THS running out 6-0 winners but again the game was played in the right fashion throughout, both sides battling until the final whistle and a great last game for this cohort who have during their 5 years here always represented the school brilliantly – a pleasure to manage to say the least. The whole squad contributed some good performances and it was great to see Jayden H finish a well-executed goal.

Following the football the boys were fed back at the main school site leaving with full bellies and an afternoon of football, what more could they want!

Yr 11 – Jacob F, Sunny W, Freddie A, Brayden M, Charlie C, Job G, Cody S, Kamil W, Joe L , Charlie O L, Mason M, Ollie R, James E, Jayden H, Harry S.

Yr 10 – Jake S, Keelan M, Piran L, Charlie B, Jude H, Owen T, Henry Q, Ollie W, Curtis V, Archie M, Ed E, Kayden H, Danny W, Harvey E.
