Mixed fortunes for KS4 basketballers

A quick summary of our KS4 team’s results in basketball – both tough away matches.

St Luke’s Away Thurs 9th Nov ; THS lose 55 – 45
The team had some valuable court time at St Luke’s; where they put their skills in to practice. A range of tactics were used with the team improving their man to man defence, and fast break offence. They lost narrowly but played as a competitive team, passing and making cuts into space; they managed to get over 45 points on the scorebaord. Key scorers were Noah P, featured at the Free Throw Line, Oli R-F, Ryan J, Alfie J. [Not pictured Logan T, Jake S.]

Uffculme Away Thurs 16th Nov ; THS win 22 – 28
A big local game; the team pulled together to play tight defence as a zone with Jacob J , Dan L and Jack V applying pressure to the opposition’s distributors. There were some strong rebounds by Jake S to keep the score down and defend the THS hoop, on offence good dribble breaks from Noah P and Oli R-F helped set up players for lay ups and bank shots;  Logan T and Ryan J showed some clever decision making cuts to the hoop to receive and score. Ryan J was nominated MVP, Most Valuable Player by the Uffculme Team.
