New library setting

The library has recently moved to a new space in school which is now more easily accessible for students to use at break and lunch. The new library has been given a new look and has retained all the high quality fiction and non fiction. We have expanded the range of books that focus on wellbeing as well as sourcing lots of brand new exciting titles.

Already the space is being enjoyed by students in their breaks and after school. Library lessons for years 7-9 will take place in the new setting and we are looking forward to making the most of the beautiful garden space which is so unique. Already staff and students have been able to relax, read and work in the garden. Plans to develop this space further with more seating, raised beds and flowers is ongoing and we can really see the new library continuing to be the heart of the school.

Emily Pike, school librarian, said: “These are exciting times for the school library. The new space is inviting and will really help to encourage all of our students to access reading and the welcoming atmosphere a school library can offer. It is lovely to see students reading for pleasure, accessing information and developing friendships and relationships.”

Sammy Crook, Headteacher, added: “We are delighted that the library has moved in to a new permanent space which combines inside and outside spaces for students and staff to interact whilst reading and relaxing. Miss Pike has got some exciting ideas for the development of the library moving forward.”
