The Tiverton High School year 7 rugby team embarked on their inaugural away fixture against Clyst Vale school in Broadclyst, a renowned challenging venue. The match was an intense encounter that showcased the team’s determination and potential.

Clyst Vale is acknowledged as a formidable opponent, and the team faced a daunting task. Despite limited game time and uncertainties in positioning, the boys approached the game with commendable spirit and commitment.

Clyst Vale presented a formidable challenge, featuring a player reminiscent of Jonah Lomu in both stature and skill. This player made a significant impact, scoring three tries in the first half. It took our team a little while to adjust, with a memorable big hit highlighting the learning curve.

The game started on a positive note, with an early try by Jack N from broken play. However, the opposition responded, and the first half saw a series of end-to-end plays. The Tiverton boys demonstrated admirable defensive efforts, learning to tackle low and hold on tight, though rucking emerged as an area for improvement.
