Students inspired by leading scientists at GSCE Science Live!

A select group of year 10 science students from Tiverton High School have been inspired by a special series of lectures from famous scientists. The GCSE Science Live! Event in Bath featured inspiring scientific research lectures from famous scientists and BBC broadcasters Professor Lord Robert Winston and Professor Alice Roberts.

The students heard about a range of topics including the start of human life and the beginning of the universe and Arctic research expeditions. They also learned how to calculate when people first domesticated dogs (over 30,000 years ago) and received some useful exam advice from speakers.

Helena Taylor, Assistant Subject Leader for Science at Tiverton High School, said: “The trip was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our year 10 students to be inspired by some of the UK’s leading scientists.

“The students said that the day helped them to see life from a different point of view and all agreed on how inspirational it was. It’s exciting that the next great scientist could be any one of them, and they all left enthused about their futures.”
