THS Badminton Teams Prepare for Regionals

THS had a wonderful afternoon of badminton yesterday.

We took 3 teams to Clyst Vale to begin our prep for the Regional Round of the National Championships.

Boys A – (Noah P, Max H and Henry T) won their two matches 3-2 and 4-1. After the initial shock of losing his first singles match, Noah P regained composure and dominated the rest of the evening.

Max and Henry demonstrated excellent teamwork in the doubles to go through the afternoon unbeaten. Max’s use of net shots and clears to manipulate the positioning of his opponent was impressive. Henry’s use of power was effective to kill the shuttle.

Boys B – (Tristan F, Kit B and Toby P) won both their matches 4-1. Toby P putting in an excellent shift, controlling the front of the court in the doubles. Tristan dominated the singles, showing a great balance between power and disguise. Kit showed excellent reactions to return difficult shots and continue to make his opponents play the extra shot.

Girls A (Cleo G and Caitlin C – depleted due illness on the day) – worked tirelessly in difficult circumstances being two players down. Cleo competing in her first competitive fixture showed great resilience to be competitive in the singles and pulling out a couple of victories in the doubles. Caitlin was as aggressive as ever, using her power and timing to overcome her opponents.

Next up after Christmas, we step up our preparations for Nationals with return fixtures here with Clyst Vale and St Peters and also travel to Wellington School.

Well done to all!
Mr Puzey
