Tournament win for Year 7 girl footballers

The year 7 girls have done incredibly well to win the local football tournament this afternoon at St Peters in Exeter. They managed to score 14 goals across 5 short games, and managed to stop any of the 5 teams from having any kind of attack on our goal. This is all the more impressive due to two key players also being unable to play due to having coronavirus, and therefore having to go without any subs.

The first game against Clyst Vale ended 1-0 who had a couple of very strong academy players for our girls to think about. And ended with a goal from Chloe.

Our second game ended 3-0 against West Exe with Chloe scoring twice and Tayler scoring a great goal, her pressing rewarded after a clinical finish into the bottom corner of our opponents goal.

Another tough game, this time against St Peters ended 1-0 with a smart late run from a corner and great vision from Niamh being the difference.

Come our last two games confidence was right up which showed with a 4-0 win against St James thanks to a Chloe hat-trick and a smart finish from Niamh, and a ruthless final game against West Exe B which ended 5-0 with Chloe getting four and Niamh getting another.

Player of the day has to be Chloe who’s form at the minute is sensational and today scored eleven goals in just five seven minute games.

Well done to the following:

Ava L. Tayler L. Hana BM. Niamh P. Chloe C.

We return to St Peters with the year 8 girls to challenge them a year up in the year 9 tournament in a couple weeks time, and Tayler, Niamh and Chloe look forward to the U13 girls national cup fixture next week against Abbeywood Community School in Bristol.
