U13 footballers defeat at Lipson

The U13 footballers have missed out in an unfortunate 2-1 defeat at Lipson Academy. The hosts were very good and in my opinion will go right towards the end of the tournament. THS started superbly well pushing the hosts back in their half and forcing there keeper into three great saves. We made advantage of our dominant start when Archie pulled the ball back for Blake to slot past the keeper.

As we got into the last ten minutes of the first half our lads noticeably started to tire and this led to an equaliser for the home side, with a smart finish from their impressive striker beating an outstretched Carly who never had a chance.

A change was made in formation to a 4-1-2-1-2 at half time to try and add more bodies in midfield, due to the home side playing without any wingers themselves.

A frustrating second half followed where our lads did absolutely everything they could, and battled so hard but came unstuck to another wonder goal from the hosts Academy-level attacker, and some great saves from their keeper.

Players’ player today is a tie between Oliver W, who’s running from box to box was sensational and Louis B who was confident and assured at centre half, all the more impressive playing a year up.

My player of the match today is a tie between Carly who made some ridiculous saves in the second half to keep us in the game, and who’s kicking was as impressive as always, and Henry who’s work rate both in the first half at right wing back, and centre midfield in the second half was everything in terms of effort level that a coach can ask for.

As we come to the end of our competitive season, I couldn’t be prouder of the efforts all of these players have made this year, and firmly believe they will achieve a lot more over the years to come.
