U13 footballers show strength against Clyst Vale

The U13 footballers continued their strong form this afternoon at Clyst Vale ahead of their crunch Devon cup fixture next week against Lipson in Plymouth.

It was a frustrating start to the game for THS as a real gust of wind affected the first 10/15 minutes of the game meaning that although keeping the hosts pushed back in their half that final ball kept just getting away from our front players.

Archie managed to use the wind to our advantage to curl a corner over the keeper into the top corner to put us 1-0 up, before good follow up play and pressing from Ollie led to a second from Charlie before half time.

A couple changes, and tweaks in tactics at half time took a little bit of time to settle in but once they did we ended up firmly on the front foot which paid off when Jesse scored an acrobatic third to put us clear.

A great run by Archie was met with a cynical foul, and Archie slotted in from the spot to make it four.

Another couple of great runs from Archie, one with a cool finish himself and one with a clever cutback for Jesse led to a very impressive 6-0 win for THS against a good side in Clyst Vale.

Player of the match from the players is Kayden H who put in a great shift and physical battle when he came on at right wing back.

My player of the match is a tie between Carly who made some great saves and who’s distribution was superb, and even did a good job in midfield come the end of the game and Archie who as usual didn’t give their defenders a moments peace and made the most of it with his clinical attacking play.

Well done to the following:

Carly K, Isaac C, Louis B, Owen T, Henry Q, Keelan M, Jude H, Oliver W, Charlie B, Blake B, Archie M, Kayden H, Jesse C, William H
