U13 girls emphatic win against Minehead

The U13 girls have completed a comprehensive 8-1 victory at home against Minehead Middle School this week in the Somerset cup. The game started quite cagey with THS on top but struggling to find out way through to goal.

Then, up stepped Chloe who beat three players before slotting away past the onrushing keeper. Chloe followed this up with two more goals to send us in 3-0 ahead at the half time break.

The message in the second half was to provide better options for our player on the ball and not be tempted to watch any players go on solo runs which paid off straight away with some neat link up between Lacey, Chloe and finally Macie giving us an instant fourth. This was followed by two more from Macie to make a second half hat-trick and a fifth from Chloe. Minehead scored a well worked goal themselves during the second half to give us a well-deserved 8-1 victory.

A massive well done and thank you to Imogen K and Ava L who both haven’t played any sort of football outside of PE lessons since mid-way through primary school and didn’t look one bit out of place today, with Imogen making some great saves and Ava showing an impressive defensive display on the right-hand side of defence.

Opposition’s players player of the match today goes too Niamh who was her usual composed, tidy self on the ball starting up attacks for us from whichever side she was asked to play on.

Players’ player of the match today is Chloe who quite simply ran the game from start to finish allowing us to play at the tempo we wanted to and feeding our attacking players all game long.

Mine is Macie who has seen a clear improvement in the past couple of months and whose link up play, and aggression when needed to get us on the front foot was very impressive in the second half.

Next up is a friendly tie on Monday before the second round of the cup.

Well done to the following:

Imogen K, Kayra P, Esmee B, Ella MR, Chloe C, Niamh P, Lacey S, Macie S, Olivia W, Ava L and Evie T.

Goals:
Chloe X5, Macie X3
